Your 16 Cents a Day is Great for San Clemente!

More than 4,000 tons of trash has been prevented from reaching the beach over the past four years. You could fill 230 giant dumpsters with that mess. The San Clemente Clean Ocean Program exists to stop storm drain pollution from flowing into the ocean. It includes a number of services that keep litter, sediment, oils and grease from fouling our beaches and oceans:• Street Sweeping • Runoff Treatment and Debris Traps• Water Quality Testing

• Commercial, Industrial and Construction Site Inspections

• Spill Cleanups and Storm Drain Maintenance

• Enforcement of Anti-Pollution Ordinances

• Public Outreach and Education

The Clean Ocean Program began in early 2003 and is a far-reaching  community agreement keep our beaches and oceans healthy and clean.

Enhancements like enforcement and education to help prevent polluted runoff in the first place are included. It also has safeguards to intercept trash and pollution before it reaches the beach.

The Clean Ocean Program is funded by a small monthly fee of 16 cents that was approved by San Clemente property owners. The city of San Clemente is  now reporting results back to the community. Learn more about how you can help prevent ocean pollution.
